Helston and The Lizard Marie Curie Fundraising Group are staging a special fundraising event – a Christmas Concert with Culdrose Military Wives' Choir and Gweek Silver band, with compère Tiffany Truscott from BBC Radio Cornwall.

The concert will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clodgey Lane, Helston, on Sunday, December 13, starting at 7pm.

Gweek Silver Band, with musical director Tony Richards, are proud of their heritage as a west Cornwall village brass band with over 80 years of rich musical history. The Culdrose Military Wives Choir formed in May 2012, inspired by Gareth Malone’s TV series The Choir. It has since doubled in size, performing at some of Cornwall’s most prolific events including sell-out audiences at the Hall for Cornwall. Paul Triggs joined the choir as musical director in February, having been involved in choral singing for more than 40 years. He is widely regarded as one of the county's leading talents.

All the money raised by the concert will support the work of Marie Curie nurses in Cornwall who provide care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Tickets cost £5 and are available by calling 01326 290002.
