Rehearsals are underway for Helston Theatre Company’s next production, which will be the family pantomime, Aladdin.

It stars Ethan Blowers, who is thrilled to be playing the lead role: “I am very excited to be playing the part of Aladdin," he said. "As the weeks go on I am getting a bit nervous, but I can’t wait for the shows in January.” Opposite Ethan will be Megan Bloor who plays the part of Princess Jasmine. Megan is a regular performer playing roles with youth theatre company Act 1, as well as in musicals and pantomimes, most recently in White Christmas.

Joining them both will be regular Helston Theatre members, with Gary Hosler starring as the hapless Wishie Washie, Steve Kingsman as Window Twanky, Chris Malton as the Genie, and Sam Scott as the evil Abanazar. The show is directed by Gillian Geer, assisted by a creative team of Ashley Chinn and Len Olds.

Chairman Paul Blaber said: “Aladdin promises to be another fantastic pantomime. It has a wonderful story with hilarious characters and some great songs. It also has the added magic of the Lamp and the mysterious Genie. This is a show that the whole family will enjoy.”

Aladdin will run from January 27 to 31 in the Epworth Hall, Helston. Tickets are on sale now from the Cornish Riviera Box Office. To book visit www.helstontheatrecompany.co.uk, call 01726 879500 or visit Gillian’s Larder, Helston.
