A man became trapped under a collapsed ceiling this morning (4/1) after a tree fell on his house in Mawgan.

A neighbour called fire control just after 7am to report that the man had become trapped in his property after a tree had fallen on the roof.

Fire engines from Helston and Mullion and the rescue tender from Tolvaddon were mobilised, and on arrival firefighters found the tree had caused the ceiling to collapse trapping the occupier by his legs.

A fire service spokesperson said: "He was rescued and placed in the care of ambulance paramedics. Damage was also caused to a LPG cylinder and the gas company were requested to attend, firefighters made the scene safe.

"Western Power were also asked to attend as power lines had been brought down."
