Penryn's current mayor will serve a second year in office after being selected by councillors at a meeting on Monday night.

Mark Snowdon, who was chosen as mayor for the first time last year, saw his nomination for a second year unanimously supported by the full town council.

He said: "I have absolutely loved being the mayor. I have done it to the best of my ability as I said I would. I have been brought up on several things but nobody's perfect.

"And I'm more than happy to do another year with the same emphasis as I did my first year.

"Thank you for your support and I will continue to do my best as I said I would."
