Les Carrek Lace and Needlecraft Group held their 25th annual Lace Day at PerranarWorthal Memorial Village Hall in Perranwell last weekend.

The first Lace Day was held in 1991 and founder members were among those who attended the silver anniversary event, along with friends from other lace groups from all over the county.

"Although Les Carrek is Cornish for Carrick Lace and (the group) was originally set up to learn the art of lace-making, our group has diversified over recent years to keep up with modern trends and members now enjoy a variety of needlecraft skills," said Val Bidgood.

"This was clearly displayed by the many and various articles on show in the exhibition. The day would not be the same without a few sales tables and, this year, these included beaded jewellery, patchwork quilts, silver jewellery, cards and general haberdashery supplies."

Les Carrek meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Perranarworthal Memorial Hall from 7pm and anyone interested in any needlecraft would be made most welcome.
