The Olivia Blake library at St.Michael’s School will be re-opened on February 22 after an artistic face lift.
The library, named after retired staff member Mrs Olivia Blake who was loved and well respected for many years, has been transformed with an underwater themed mural, painted by talented artist and school secretary at the school Kelly Watson.
A school spokesperson said: "The staff and pupils are very grateful for all of the extra dedicated hours she put into this. The amazing painting has taken many hours and many pots of paint, donated by Jewson’s in Helston to whom the school is truly grateful.
"It is hoped that the newly decorated and reorganised library will inspire children to use this wonderful facility more and read a wider variety of books. Reading is such an important part of a child’s education and childhood that the school is doing everything they can to encourage children to be enthusiastic and avid readers."
As part of its efforts to encourage reading, the school will be taking part in World Book Day celebrations in March, encouraging the children to dress up and take part in a variety of activities.
