The "unique" way of learning at Sithney School has been credited for helping it achieve an outstanding Ofsted inspection from Ofsted.

Inspectors graded the primary school "outstanding" in every area, which headteacher Susan Evans puts down to the way pupils learn.

Describing the school as "humbled" by such a glowing report, she said: "We have worked so very hard to ensure our pupils are at the heart of everything we aspire to achieve.

"Two years ago the staff and pupils developed a unique system of learning using 'skills progression ladders' - an opportunity to explore learning in a way that totally equipped them for the life journey they will experience and the people they will become."

She added the lead inspector reported that Sithney was "streets ahead in its vision for learning" and that pupils showed "some of the best behaviour he had ever seen."

The federation of Sithney School with Garras School was seen as a huge success, with the two communities effectively "one school", whilst keeping their individuality, said Ms Evans.

The Ofsted inspector described parents' satisfaction with the school as "extraordinarily high," with 100 per cent of those responding to a survey indicating that they would recommend the school to another parent.

Chair of governors Kristin Pryor said: "It is a real privilege to be a member of such a caring and dedicated team.

"Not only are the staff and governors completely committed to providing the best possible learning experience for every child, but they are always striving to improve.

"Parents and members of the community go above and beyond to support their school, and the children thrive in their sense of well-being and their learning outcomes.

"Our future is very bright, and we celebrate this well-deserved judgement with great joy."

Ms Evans has been described as an "inspirational headteacher", with the inspector noting: "Her compassion for

children is skilfully blended with a steely determination for all to succeed."

This is likely to be her last inspection in post, however, as she is due to retire at the end of the school year after ten years at Sithney.
