Two lost toenails, three blisters and £2,500 raised was the result of a 46-mile trek raising money to help a young Helston boy learn to speak.

As first reported in the Helston Packet, three and a half-year-old William Stuteley has been left unable to talk through autism.

The walk at the weekend was organised by his parents Rebecca and Joe in a bid to take the next step towards helping him find his voice.

They need to raise a staggering £50,000 to fund one-to-one care over the next to two to three years,

A total of 21 people took part in the fundraiser, with groups taking it in turns to walk from The Lizard to Land's End in four sections.

It was a 5am start for the first set of walkers, who trekked as far as Porthleven before handing over to the next team. The following legs comprised Porthleven to Marazion, on to Lamorna and finally finishing at Land's End, over the course of two days.

One of the walkers, Tess Lister, walked the full 46 miles, while Joe, Adrian Bishop, Hazel Stuteley and Gail Crudgington walked two sections.

Rebecca said: "Joe and I are so proud and grateful to all that walked - they helped raise a great amount of money. Thank you to everyone that walked, sponsored and supported."

The people taking part were: Rebecca and Joe Stuteley, Emma Williams, Adrian Bishop, Keir Trevithick, Catlin Trevithick, Hilary Hale, Andy Dalgleish, Laura Hocking, Andy Hocking, Becky Goodrum, Michael Delbridge, Hazel Stuteley, Gail Crudgington, Tess Lister, Amanda Bradley, Sarah Stovell, Debbi Roger, Gaby Rudge, Kieran Ryan and Dave Semmons.

The money raised will be added to the £2,000 collected so far through the Hear Will's Voice fundraising page at gogetfunding.com/hear-wills-voice

To help boost this further an auction and quiz night is taking place at Culdrose Community Centre on March 26, at 7pm.
