An exciting new design and refresh of the official destination website for Falmouth has taken place, with the enhanced site now attracting more users than ever before.

The Falmouth BID funds and manages the town’s official destination website, falmouth.co.uk, which complements a host of other online marketing schemes that have been developed by the team recently, including a Falmouth App, a range of social media platforms and a series of high quality promotional films.

Representing and supporting over 450 businesses, many initiatives have been delivered through the award-winning Falmouth BID scheme for the benefit of businesses and the area – national PR and digital marketing campaigns, new events and festivals, public realm improvements and business training programmes.

Working with the Cornish-based Oracle Design, a design agency established by a Falmouth University graduate, the vision for the BID was to create the most visually stimulating and dynamic town website possible. Responding to the needs of today’s visitor, the fresh new design of the website is fully responsive for seamless PC, mobile and tablet browsing, with enhanced profile pages for BID businesses. The use of inspirational, full-screen imagery further emphasises the beauty and diversity of Falmouth.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager, said: “Our ambition has been simple, to create the best town website in the UK so that we can further support our businesses and best showcase our fantastic destination. It’s vital that as a town, we look for innovative ways to improve our offering and inspire new audiences.

"Furthermore, it’s key that we position Falmouth where our customers want us to be and that means utilising new opportunities and technologies to communicate with them. Trends clearly indicate the growth not only in seeking inspiration for and then purchasing your holiday online but using your tablet or smart phone to do so. We’ll continue to work with and support our businesses so we and they can be as competitive and forward-thinking as possible.”

Vanessa Clark, proprietor of Falmouth guesthouse Highcliffe, added: “As a small business based in Falmouth, the support and profile that we get through key schemes such as falmouth.co.uk, is priceless. The site offers us a presence on a scale that we would not be able to afford or produce ourselves. By promoting the enormous variety of events, attractions and businesses, the website really is a fantastic marketing showcase for Falmouth and all it has to offer.

"As more people than ever before search, book or buy on smartphones, this site is as easy to navigate on a smartphone as it is on any other device, therefore benefitting every business connected with it. The website epitomises the fact that Falmouth is a forward-thinking town with a big community.”
