It may not have had the high profile of the Grand National or Ascot, but the donkey derby held by Falmouth Rotary Club recently was certainly enjoyed by all who took part.
The fundraiser was held at Falmouth Bowling Club and saw members and guests "buying" a donkey and then competing against each other to see who could cross the winning line first.
The evening proved a highly successful social event for the club as members took advantage of the bar and also tucked into pasties. As well as being a fun event, though, the donkey derby was also a fundraising success. By the end of the evening a total of £590 had been generated which will go to Rotary charities.
