It's almost time for the annual Mawnan Musical Extravaganza which will see an enthusiastic and talented bunch of fundraisers take to the stage in aid of the Global Natural Healthcare Trust (GNHT).
The show will take place at Mawnan Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 14, when there will be two chances to catch all the action - at the 2pm matinee or the 7.30pm evening performance. Audiences can look forward to "sparkling entertainment" with young dancers from Vicky's School of Dancing and from the village, singers from Mawnan Smith and a couple of comedy sketches too.
"A host of talent have been busy rehearsing, making costumes and painting scenery, so do please support this," said Sue Rosevear.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3.50 for children and are available from the Mawnan Spar shop. All the money raised will go to the Truro-based GNHT, a charity that runs a healthcare centre, Orange Farm, outside Johannesburg in South Africa. The workers based at Orange Farm provide care and support to orphans and vulnerable children, many of whom are infected with HIV/AIDS. The charity promotes treatment with medicinal herbs and natural remedies.
Last year's musical extravaganza raised £860 for the charity and a concert by Treverva Male Voice Choir in March raised a further £685.
