Tours of Mullion parish church’s historic carved pew ends will be given next month by a woman who has spent seven years researching them.

Village resident Jill Woodhead has written a booklet on the 108 pew and bench ends at St Mellanus Church, which are centuries old.

This includes a written tour of the carvings and the meanings behind them.

However, during the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations next month the church is holding a series of special events on June 10, 11 and 12 – and Jill will be on hand during the afternoon of the first day, the Friday, to give tours in person and allow people to ask questions.

The profits from any sales of the booklets will go to the Friends of St Mellanus Church, which was set up to cover restoration, preservation, repairs and maintenance of the church.
