Falmouth's outgoing mayor, John Body, hosted an afternoon tea party for members of Falmouth and Penryn Lions Club.
It was one of Mr Body's last official duties as mayor before he handed over the chain of office on Monday night to his successor, Grenville Chappel.
Mr Body said: "Having been a previous Lion I know how much work goes into the organisation therefore I was honoured to be able to provide afternoon tea for members of the Lions who provide a fantastic support network to our community."
Falmouth and Penryn Lions Club president, Alan Wright, said: "The kind invitation to visit the mayor's parlour was extremely interesting. The mayor explained some of the history of Falmouth and plans for the future. It gave us the opportunity to discuss the role of Falmouth and Penryn Lions in supporting the community."
Club members help out in the community in a variety of ways. Current projects include offering extra pairs of hands at this month's Race for Life and helping find sponsors for the Falmouth Golf Tournament - both events raise money for Cancer Research. The club is also sourcing a powered wheelchair for an elderly couple who are finding mobility difficult, and it runs and organises the annual Falmouth Tide Race at Gyllyngvase Beach.
Over the last 12 months the Lions have helped at least a dozen good causes including funding a holiday for a family in need of a break and taking local old folks out for a Christmas meal.
