One of the last events John Body attended before handing over the mayoral robes of Falmouth last week, was a charity ball he had organised as a joint venture with Penryn's mayor, Mark Snowdon.

The Mayors' Ball was held at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth and saw around 70 people, made up of other civic leaders, family and friends, enjoy a night of eating, chatting, drinking and dancing. There was a quiz, which saw Mark act as quiz master; an auction with auctioneer Steve Kimberley and live music from Boom.

By the end of the night £1,300 had been raised for the mayors' charities. Mark said: "Everyone had a fantastic evening. Jane Williams and the GreenBank did us proud, the food and service was great. Our goal was to raise £1,000 for our charities and it looks like it's over £1,300 raised which is fantastic.

"We've had a wonderful year attending functions and working with John and Linda and they are firmly personal friends now."

John said of the ball: "I don't think this has been done before, a joint event like this. It is good to work with Penryn as we need closer links with the town because we have so much in common. Over the last 12 months we (John and his wife Linda) have worked well with Mark and Di and we have become good friends."
