Falmouth's Dracaena Centre has taken on a new apprentice to replace James Eddy who has successfully completed a year's training and will soon be heading off to America.

Chloe Martin, aged 17, is settling into her new role at the centre and is looking forward to the challenges ahead. "Her role will be quite similar to what James has done, but being a female she can access female only groups," said Brad Bodinnar, health, leisure and wellbeing coordinator at the centre.

"My hope is will can infiltrate them, build relationships and create more opportunities for young women. She is also going to learn more about youth work."

Chloe hails from Redruth and is a former pupil at Pool Academy. She plays rugby for Cornwall Under 18s with her biggest match so far being played at Twickenham.

Her predecessor, James, a former Falmouth School pupil, achieved is level three in physical education and school sport. During his apprenticeship he focused on the Special Olympics Club, a multi-sports club for adults with learning disabilities, and has now been taken on by the centre as a sports' coach.

He will soon be taking a break, however, as he has secured a place coaching with Camp America and will be jetting off to Iowa in June where he will spend three months.
