The Truro Area Friends Group of the Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) are delighted with the success of their recent Harbour to Harbour for Little Harbour sponsored walk which raised over £6,000.

The event comprised of different routes and distances making it something that everyone could get involved in. Over 80 people started the walk at Devoran Quay along the Mineral Tramway accompanied by six vehicles from the Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response Team and they walked a total of 13 miles.

They were then joined by 50 more walkers at Scorrier where they were treated to a pasty from Prima Bakeries. The 130 walkers then continued on their journey to finish at Portreath Harbour where their day was completed with a cream tea at Portreath School.

Roger Clarke, chair of Truro Area Friends Group, said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in the event, for all of their energy for walking and generosity with their fundraising. It was a brilliant day and everyone looked as though they were having fun. Thanks go to the local companies who provided the pasties, cream teas, bus transport and the loos. Although we thought this event to celebrate 25 years of CHSW may raise about £2,000 we have already collected over £6,000 which is fantastic.”
