Pupils at St Francis School enjoyed their annual fundraising event recently which this year was a Tea and Talent Day which saw them dress up and perform in front of their peers and parents.

The day was organised by the school council with the aim of bringing in much needed cash for Cornwall Hospice Care and Stanley's Friends, which supports young Stanley Barnes' family as they make regular trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for his ongoing treatment.

All the children taking part in the talent show had prepared all of their own acts, worked out all of their own choreography and chose and rehearsed all their own songs and music. Teacher Nicky Sutton said: "The school council decided that it was going to be an impossible job to judge the acts for a winner as they were all so super amazing. Instead they are giving all the children who took part a certificate and a lolly.

"The children and the parents were buzzing afterwards and they were all very complimentary about the amount of talent that the school has. I was over the moon, as lots of the children who put themselves forward to perform have made an immense amount of progress in their confidence to be able to do that when a few years ago they were too shy to join in. A fantastic afternoon of tea and talent was had by all."

As well as the talent show, the children brought in and sold a selection of tasty cakes and biscuits which were available during break times. By the end of the day a total of £551 had been raised so £275.61 has been given to both of the good causes.
