Falmouth's Ben Killingback is to appear on a semi-final of Britain's Got Talent this week as a member of the Collaborative Orchestra and Singers.
The 21-year-old, whose parents are both members of Falmouth Marine Band and whose father, Mark, father used to be Falmouth's deputy harbour master, is a musical theatre student at the London College of Music.
He said: "I joined the Collaborative Orchestra and Singers after one of the lecturers put us into contact with them. They were already planning on entering Britain's Got Talent, but required singers to join to complete the act.
"After just five full rehearsals in a small church, we hit the stage for our audition at the Dominion Theatre, where we performed a rendition of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. When I joined, I had no idea how far we would go, but the response we got from the judges and social media made us realise we had a unique act.
"We all can't wait to perform live, and feel like we have something truly special and patriotic which hopefully the public are going to love and vote for."
