Both of Falmouth's lifeboats were called to help a fishing boat which had sprung a leak in the Penryn River on Sunday morning.

The lifeboats were out on exercise just after 10am when they received a call about the eight metre fishing boat Wild Rover which had sprung a plank and was taking on water off Gorrangorras Creek.

The inshore lifeboat took the vessel in tow at around 10.25am and they arrived at Falmouth Marina ten minutes later where the fishing boat was handed over to marina staff to be lifted out.

A spokesperson for Falmouth RNLI said: "The fishing boat Wild Rover had been on its mooring when the single handed skipper realised that the vessel had sprung a plank and was taking water on board.

"The skipper had called for assistance and had then managed to partially stem the flow of the water allowing the vessel's pumps to maintain the ingress long enough for the vessel to be towed to the marina and to be lifted out of the water."
