The planning application for the redevelopment of the Ocean Bowl site in Falmouth and the proposed creation of 275 student beds has now officially been lodged with Cornwall Council.

The joint developers of the scheme, Rengen Developments Ltd and Empiric Student Property Plc, are seeking consent to provide "high quality" student accommodation with ensuite facilities, on-site management and a range of communal facilities to include quiet study rooms, a gymnasium, cinema room, lounge and reception.

The proposed development would provide 275 student beds together with a café which would be open to the public and communal student facilities. The accommodation would be made up of a mix of six bed townhouses, four bed high houses, single studios, twin and triple apartments and is

intended to cater for the full range of students, ie first years to post-graduate students.

Local residents living in Pendennis Rise and further afield have already voiced their objections to the proposals and are expected to be represented at the town council's planning committee meeting on Monday, July 11, when the application is due to be debated.
