Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A38 near Notter, Saltash.

The collision involving a blue Nissan Note and a light goods vehicle happened shortly before 8.45pm on Tuesday 28 June.

Both vehicles were travelling between Saltash and Landrake on the main A38 at the time of the collision.

The Nissan appears to have been in collision with the rear of the light goods vehicle causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The 52-year-old male driver of the Nissan, from Penryn, was declared deceased at the scene. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but his next of kin has been informed.

The 51-year-old male driver of the lorry, from Spain, was not believed to have been injured as a result of the collision.

The road was closed in both directions to enable officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit to carry out a forensic examination of the scene. The road was reopened at 3.25am on Wednesday 29 June.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
