Organisers are encouraging Falmouth businesses to get up from their desks, swap their pen for an egg and spoon and enter a team into the Workplace Sports Day being held as part of ZestiFAL.

It is hoped that businesses will come together for the challenge on Events Square and compete in some light-hearted "old school" sports day racing challenges. The Workplace Sports Day will take place during lunchtime on Tuesday, July 26, with all equipment provided and there will be a trophy for the winning team.

Teams of four can enter by emailing the name of the organisation, contact name and details to Natasha Howard at nhoward@cornwall.gov.uk. Entry closes on July 12 and it is free to enter.

Natasha, event organiser from Cornwall Sports Partnership who are co-ordinating the event, said; “This is a terrific and unique opportunity to bring your work colleagues together and get out of the office for an hour of sack racing and three-legged fun during a lunchtime.”

The Workplace Sports Day is part of ZestiFAL, which takes places from the July 23 to 27 at various venues across Falmouth. ZestiFAL is an annual celebration of sport and active living, organised by the Falmouth BID, which will transform the town into a hub of energetic and engaging activity.

An range of sports and activity providers from Falmouth and across Cornwall will be showcasing what they do in the town’s open spaces, from Gyllyngvase Beach and The Moor, to Events Square and Kimberley Park. It is a chance for residents as well as visitors, of all ages and abilities, to try something new such as scuba diving, urban obstacles, yoga, Segway, dance, Pilates, paddleboarding, Zumba, hockey or climbing.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager and ZestiFAL organiser, said: “I’m delighted that we are able to offer the Workplace Sports Day as part of ZestiFAL this year and so a big thank you to Natasha and her team at Cornwall Sports Partnership for co-ordinating.

"ZestiFAL like all of our main festivals, is all about community engagement and so the workplace sports idea seeks to bring together Falmouth’s business sector in a fun and energetic way. I look forward to seeing the competing teams.”
