A Penryn family have paid tribute to a "wonderful father" who died after a crash between his car and a light goods vehicle near Saltash.

Andrew Head, 52, was involved in a collision between his car and a lorry on the A38 near Notter, Saltash on Tuesday, June 28.

His family said in a statement: "We are devastated with the loss of Andrew, who was a wonderful father to Shania and Nyreen, a loving son and loved brother of Mark, Steven and wives.

"Andrew was also a much loved uncle and friend to all the people he worked with at Falmouth docks. He is totally irreplaceable, and our lives will never be the same."

Mr Head died following the collision between a blue Nissan Note and a light goods vehicle, which happened shortly before 8.45pm. Both vehicles were travelling between Saltash and Landrake on the main A38 at the time of the collision.

The road was closed in both directions to enable officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit to carry out a forensic examination of the scene. Officers are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles being driven moments before, is asked to email 101@dc.police.uk, or call 101, quoting police log 882 of the 28th of June.
