There are less than three weeks to go until the ladies of Falmouth and surrounding areas turn the town pink at the annual Pink Wig Ladies Night on August 5.

Falmouth Marine Band will once again be leading the parade with Betty Stogs joining in to help raise money on the night and organisers are also thrilled to welcome back DJ Nate and live band The Strutts. Nate will be playing his usual mix of tunes at intervals throughout the night at Events Square, where The Strutts, a fun-loving, energetic group of musicians, will be headlining.

Gillian Sadler and her Embrace Team are in the process of choreographing some new Zumba moves for the warm up at the beginning of the evening, and there will also be a photo booth for you to catch those special memories on the night.

Tickets are selling fast, but there are a few still available along with t-shirts from outlets in Falmouth including Bow Accessories, Fat Willys and Tava Beauty, along with Tanya’s Courage Charity Shop in Penryn.

Emma Kent, Pink Wig chairperson, said: “We are proud and once again overwhelmed with the support we have been shown by local companies who are keen to support our local fundraising. We would like to thank our main sponsors, Watson Marlow, Heather & Lay, Trident Plumbing and Heating and Hine Downing Solicitors, without their generous sponsorship we wouldn’t be able to hand over the large amounts of money that we do to our two main charities, Cornwall Breast Care Team and Breast Cancer Now.”

This year’s event will sadly see the retirement of the Pink Wig boobies, as after four years they have seen better days and have been put out to pasture. But there will be a few extra surprises in store on the night, including the unveiling of the new Pink Wig mascot.

Emma added: “We are grateful to Falmouth Marine Band, Betty Stogs, the ladies of Falmouth and beyond, and also local hotels and hostelries. For those who were unable to get tickets to the VIP reception at The Greenbank Hotel, we are delighted that the Palacio Lounge on The Moor will be selling pink cocktails throughout the day/evening with Pink Wig receiving a donation for each drink sold. They are also supporting us by 'Going Pink' for the day, so a huge thank you to both establishments for their keen interest.”

Pink Wig are hoping that other local businesses will again get involved by turning pink for the day/evening on August 5. "To date Pink Wig Events has raised over £55,000, let’s help make this another record breaking year," said Emma. "Don’t forget to visit our own Pink Wig cocktail bar and bubbly bar on the night, all profits from drinks, tickets and t-shirt sales help our two chosen charities."
