Students at Falmouth School celebrated a year of high achievement at the newly structured Commendation Evening.

Awards on the evening included excellent progress, excellent attainment, significant contribution and an award for student of the year. Students were split into lower and upper school, with the year seven and eight students up first to receive their awards.

The recipients of the lower school awards were: Andrew Cocklin, Ellie Casey, Reuben Hesser, Mya Gurrin and Leon Remphry in year seven. Awards went to Georgia Hawkins, Jay Perry, Rory O’Conaill, Faith Tinson, Jennifer Hudson and Bay Morgan in year eight.

Upper school students presented with awards were: Tamzyn Berry, Owen Richardson, Jake Miners, Caitlin Noble, Phillip Dobson and Sophia Floris of year nine were recognised for an excellent year, before Theo Fleming, Nell Packer, Sam Holland, Mollie Reburn, Ellie Byass and Merryn Peters picked up the accolades for year ten.

Sam Holland gave his presentation that secured him first place in the Ogden Trust the week before, wowing the audience with what had been described as a “university standard” presentation.

Year 12 awards went to Marrick Palmer, Katy Wheeler, Lauren Cowie, Will Luscombe, Rachel Elvans and Ben Watts. The final awards of the evening were the coveted Student of the Year awards and the winners of these were: Reuben Hesser (year seven); Georgia Hawkins (year eight); Caitlin Noble (year nine); Sam Holland (year ten) and Chelsea Bennetts (year 12).

Deputy headteacher Alex George, said: “This is the first time we’ve arranged an evening like this and it has been a tremendous success. The students who picked up awards have all had an outstanding year and were rightly recognised for their superb progress, attainment and significant contributions in school. We’re looking forward to many more evenings like this to celebrate our students successes. Well done to them all.”
