Awards and adieus mixed together last Wednesday as Flushing Primary School celebrated its pupils' achievements over the last year while also bidding farewell to those moving on to secondary school.

The whole school gathered in the Village Club along with parents and carers as the highest achiever's from the last academic year were rewarded at the annual prize giving ceremony.

At the same time, everyone had the chance to say goodbye to the year six pupils, who will enter the next stage of their education when September rolls around.

Class awards, looking at enthusiasm and progress in writing this year, were presented to:

Foundation class, 1 Rita, 2 Seb, 3 Alfie; Starfish class, 1 Eden, 2 Theo, 3 Arlen; Seals, 1 Jack, 2 Archie, 3 Hollie; Dolphins, 1 Arthur, 2 Rubie, 3 Lily.

This year the Millenium Cup for attendance was presented to Connor Hurrell, Ava Marston, Archie Richardson, Lottie Tregaskes, Alfie and Ethan Empringham who all had 100 per cent attendance. The St.Peter’s Cup for kindness and consideration was given to Felicite Radbone, with Milly and Lorelei runners up. The Centenary Cup for commitment went to Hugo Allan, with Riley and Connor runners up. The Challenge Shield for outstanding performance was won by Rubie Williams, with Lottie and Madi runners up. The Kathleen Furze Music Shield for commitment to music was awarded to Kaiya Collins, with Ava and Ethan runners up. The Patrick Simons Award for creativity was given to Shelton Polglase with Molly and Ira runners up. The Wilson James Award, the gold award for sport was won by Ava Marston with Jake and Milly runners up. And the The Maureen Jacket Award for Poetry was presented to Sasha Fowles, with Juno and Arthur runners up.
