The year six pupils at St Francis School in Falmouth were given the chance to dress up and enjoy and evening at a top hotel as the celebrated the end of their primary school education last Wednesday.

The youngsters began the day with a leavers' assembly at the school and ended it with the leavers' party held at the Falmouth Hotel. And, just like the year 11 students who enjoyed their proms last month, the youngsters donned their best outfits and spent the evening enjoying each others' company.

The next morning they hosted another leavers' assembly at the school, with this one attended by their parents.

It wasn't just the year six pupils celebrating last week, though - the whole school joined in with a Cornish-themed day held on the same day as the summer fayre, which continued with the Cornish theme.

Each year group produced Cornish-inspired good which were then sold at the fayre from a marquee on the school field. In addition there was face painting, a tombola and raffle, candyfloss, bouncy castles and a variety of games.

The school year ended on a sad note, though, as pupils and colleagues said farewell to a number of teachers and support staff, including Ross Barnes, Mike Williams, Rachel Teucher and Emily Jorey.
