CORNWALL Council officers picked up their oars and heaved-to in a charity rowing event for Children’s Hospice South West.

A donation of £610 was raised for the Little Harbour hospice in St Austell. The charity gig rowing challenge was held at Loe Beach, Feock, and was organised with the help of Truro Rowing Club.

More than 70 colleagues from Cornwall Council took part, forming 12 crews, with each member paying to enter the challenge. There was also a barbecue and a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses and individuals.

Bernadette Chambers, corporate partnerships fundraiser for CHSW, said: “On behalf of all of the local children and families that we support at Little Harbour I would like to thank everyone for their hard work in organising and contributing to what was a fantastic fundraiser. To have raised this much money in just one day is amazing and we are so grateful for your generous donation. This is a great example of how colleagues can get together and raise vital funds for us whilst doing something fun.”

CHSW give their thanks to all the businesses who donated prizes to the raffle.
