MORE KEITH PIX NEED TO BE ATTACHED - ONLY HAD 4 ON THURSDAY
There were tears of joy at Helston Community College last Thursday as teenagers collected their long awaited GCSE results.
The happiness wasn't confined to just the students, though, as staff also joined in the celebrations. Head teacher, Donna Bryant, said: "We are especially delighted with the outcomes for this year group as this cohort of students were significantly weaker than national measures on joining the college.
"They have made excellent progress to achieve in line with national outcomes for attainment and above national for progress. Eighteen per cent of students have gained five or more A*/A grades. The attainment gap between the most disadvantaged and their peers has more than halved."
Particular congratulations have gone to Harry Millen, Stephanie Moran, Will Thomas, Emily Friedrich, Millie Hodge and Joshua Robertson who made the most overall progress.
The following students have also been praised for their outstanding achievements: Kate Anderson, Olivia Duval, Amelia Edwards and Beth Hole, ten A*/A; Holly Booth, Jasmine Crocker, Lucy Hannaford and Luke Wood, nine A*/A and Meg Burtenshaw, Tamsin Ford, Amber Grant, Rachael Hannaford, Rosanna Harrington, Sam Smith, Ross Sutherland and Maisie Wills, eight A*/A.
