Cornwall’s bracing winds and weather warnings did nothing to deter 88 keen fun runners who turned up at Trelissick to raise money for the Merlin MS Centre, Cornwall’s only therapy and support centre for those living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

Starting in front of Trelissick House, runners of all ages set off on the one mile course. Several runners challenged themselves even further to run two laps of the park-land.

Lucy Chappell, community fundraiser for the charity and event organiser, said: “It was wonderful to welcome so many new runners of all ages to this family event and to see the enjoyment and determination on so many faces. We were beyond thrilled with the turn out given the forecast and have raised almost £850 from this event.

"Unlike the forecast winds, the generosity, support and community spirit on display during the event just blew us away. It was great to see whole families arriving from near and far to enjoy the fun run. We were delighted that so many runners expressed their enjoyment of the event and promised to come again next year."

Marshalls on the day were provided by the Rotary Club of Truro Boscawen which has chosen the Merlin MS Centre as its charity for this year’s 15 or six mile Fal River Walk on September 25. Further information can be found at falriverwalk.co.uk.
