A woman pedestrian who was seriously injured following a three vehicle collision in Falmouth this morning has been transferred to Derriford for treatment.

The woman, identified locally as Kay Kitto, was injured after a collision between a lorry, a van and a car in Oakfield Road, Falmouth this morning.

Police say the woman in her 40s suffered serious life changing injuries when she was hit by one of the vehicles following the crash. Emergency service are at the scene following the accident just after 8am this morning.

Sergeant Janie Curnow of Falmouth Police said: "There has been three vehicles involved. We are trying to establish the cause and the mechanics of the collision still at this time."

Accident investigators are currently on scene and the road is closed between Laburnum Drive and Acacia Road.

The woman was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, and no other injuries were reported.
