The Seven Stars on The Moor in Falmouth held its annual harvest festival auction on Saturday evening when there was a wealth of produce on display.

A sizeable crowd bid for fresh vegetables from local allotments, home-made jams and pickles, local fish and seafood, Cornish beer and cider, an illustrate book about the Cornish landscape and a signed print by local artist Richard Tuff.

Over £700 was raised toward this year’s chosen charity, Falmouth Age Concern, the independent, charity for the elderly in Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding area. It runs a very successful befriending service for elderly people who live alone and organises clubs, classes, excursions and events.

“We are delighted to have been chosen and to receive such a generous amount of money,” said FAC manager Peter Maxted. “Our thanks to Amy Bennetts and all the staff, customers and friends at the Stars who helped make the evening such a success. All the money will be used towards our work with the elderly in our local community.”
