Rockets, Catherine wheels and other pyrotechnic delights will light up the skies over Truro at the Tremorvah bonfire and fireworks display to be held on Friday, November 4, at Tremorvah Playing Fields in Bodmin Road, opposite Archbishop Benson School.

The event, now into its ninth year, is organised by Truro City Council in association with Tremorvah Playing Fields Group. As well, as a stunning fireworks display, there will be a large bonfire and stalls selling hot food and drinks, snacks, glow-sticks and sparklers.

Last year’s event was attended by over 1,900 people and raised £4,870 for Cornwall Air Ambulance and Penhaligon’s Friends, the two Cornish charities which will be supported again this year.

Tim Atkins of local solicitors, Stephens Scown, who have paid for the fireworks and who are the event’s main sponsor, said: "The Tremorvah bonfire and fireworks night will offer a fun filled evening to Truro families, once again. Stephens Scown are very happy to sponsor this community event and help raise money for the two fantastic charities on the night.’

The gates will open at 5pm with the judging of the best guy competition taking place at 5.30pm by Truro’s mayor, Rob Nolan. The bonfire will be lit just before 6pm with fireworks set off at 6.45pm. Hot food and refreshments will be provided on site by the Round Table until the event closes at 7pm.

To add a fun competitive element to the evening, local children are invited to bring along their home-made guys on the night at 5pm to be entered into the best guy competition, then hurled onto the fire. Any child bringing along a guy will also have free entry to the event.

Admission prices remain the same as they have for nine years - £3 for adults, £1 for children

with those four and under getting in for free. In view of limited parking, the organisers are advising

people to come on foot.
