Four people were injured in a serious crash on the Helston to Breage road last night.

Emergency services were called to the Stopgate junction, which leads to Porthleven, just before 7.20pm to what witnesses have described as an “almost head on” collision between two vehicles.

A paramedic in a response ambulance car was among the first on the scene, closely followed by police and ambulance personnel.

They also called for the help of firefighters from Helston and Tolvaddon, to cut free some of the occupants who were trapped.

One remained in the car to be assessed by a doctor and ambulance staff before being removed and transported by ambulance for further treatment.

One passerby who helped at the scene said three of the four people had been injured in particular, suffering broken bones and shock.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: “Four casualties were involved, with one remaining in the vehicle being assessed by an attending doctor and ambulance personnel. Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service gave general assistance at the scene and also helped ambulance personnel.”
