Chyan Harvest Fayre and Apple Day at Halvasso went with a swing last weekend with live music, workshops and plenty of fun for children.

Now in its third year, the fayre has developed from the Chyan Community Field’s Apple Day and celebrates the end of the summer and home-grown food. Visitors used the apple presses to make their own juice by hand.

“It’s great to see everyone from the local community getting together one last time before winter,” said organiser Sophie Curnoe.

Building on the success of last year in offering good music, a vegan cafe, wood-fired pizza, archery and natural craft activities, there were also new attractions including Danny’s Healing Field, with meditation and dance workshops; an art exhibition in the Apple Barn and a children’s area run by local environmental charity the Seeds Project.

The day ended with music from Roustabouts and Kernow Vibrations, a warming evening bonfire and good spirits.

Part of the profits from the fayre go to Chyan Community Field, a charity engaging people in outdoor activities and the natural environment.

“I’m so pleased to see people of all ages here today having fun, enjoying the outdoors,” said Stephanie Jackson, trustee of Chyan Community Field. “I am really excited about the new programme of courses and volunteering that is happening at Chyan this year and into next year supported by the Postcode Local Trust.”
