The annual Falmouth Beer Festival once again proved a massive hit at the weekend, attracting just under 5,000 people through the gates of the Princess Pavilion and Gyllyngdune Gardens who consumed thousands of pints or ales and ciders.

Organised by CAMRA Kernow, Cornwall’s branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, the event saw visitors able to enjoy sampling 240 or more real ales and more than 60 ciders and perries - all housed either in the main theatre or in marquees in the garden.

To supplement the liquid refreshment, Tempus Leisure laid on food across the three days and there was a variety of musical entertainment in the Garden Room on the Friday and Saturday.

Organisers say the festival was another huge success. "It was great to see so many old faces and new ones," said a spokesman. "A couple of highlights were of course the winning beers. It's exciting to see Treen brewery, in its first year of being established, picking up a silver place and Cornish Knocker, which is the first beer Steve Skinner brewed, picking up a gold, alongside golds for Driftwood and Penzance Brewery.

"We increased the barrelage this year and that was a success as we still had a wide range available on Saturday. We will soon start making plans for next year."
