Cashing in on fashion was the name of the game on Friday as the Rotary Club turned the Falmouth Hotel into a catwalk for the evening.

Men turned out in dinner jackets while ladies donned their best frocks to watch friends and family members strut their stuff in a variety of dresses, all in the name of charity.

The Falmouth branch of the Rotary Club held its first ever fashion show to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as for Rotary charities.

Organiser Liz Flint said: "It was absolutely brilliant.

"The models ranged from 15 to 70 plus, and they made it amazing for everybody. It was well supported by the men from Rotary as well."

The audience watched as models paraded a range of clothing from Black Pearl in Falmouth, Smart Exchanges in Truro, and Cargo Clothing in Penryn, including designer labels and prom dresses.

Liz added: "I was the only Rotary member (taking part) but there were wives and daughters of members.

"I'm just so glad that it worked out the way it did because it proves how diverse projects can be with Rotary, because people think they are all fuddy duddies.

It had an element of fun as well, it wasn't just a straight forward fashion show."

The event made over £1,000 from tickets and a raffle, which will be split between Macmillan and a Rotary charity, to be decided at the next monthly club meeting.
