A kitten who found fame after hiding inside the bumper of Helston pilot's car for a 300-mile journey has now inspired the purr-fect present this Christmas.

It was back in June that little Tigger discovered he'd bitten off more than he could chew when he jumped into Lieutenant Nick Grimmer's BMW and found himself being driven from Birmingham Airport back to RNAS Culdrose, via Bristol and Bath.

After the car was eventually dismantled by air engineers from the base, when 32-year-old Nick heard "very quiet meowing" the following day, that the tiny tiger-striped stowaway was found - and was immediately adopted as mascot for Nick's 814 Naval Air Squadron, which are appropriately known as the Flying Tigers.

Now the submarine-hunting squadron has released its own calendar featuring its members with cats, shot during their own time - with Nick and Tigger naturally taking the cover spot.

All proceeds from The Flying Tigers and Kittens 2017 calendar will help The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity support sailors, marines and their families for life.

Calendars are available online via royalmarinesbands.co.uk/product/flying-tigers-kittens-calendar-2017 costing £8.95.
