A Penryn woman who died when her car was involved in a collision with a tractor has been named by police.

Tammy Platow, 31, had been driving on the A30 near Avers, in the Redruth area, just before 7pm on Wednesday when her Hyundai Santa Fe car collided with the back of a loaded trailer being towed by a tractor.

A one-year-old child was also in the car at the time, but thankfully only sustained minor injuries although it was kept in the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro overnight as a precaution.

The driver of the tractor, from the Camborne area, was uninjured.

Circumstances surrounding the cause of the collision are still being looked into by police.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision, which closed the road for approximately eight hours. Email police via 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting log 549 of January 11, 2017.
