Two of Falmouth's county councillors have money they need to give away to worthy, community causes within the next few weeks.

Alan Jewell, who represents the Boslowick division on Cornwall Council, and David Saunby, who is councillor for Trescobeas, have money remaining in their "community chest" allowances and are appealing for suggestions on how it should be spent.

Each Cornwall councillor has a small grant allocation totalling £2,000 to help projects run by voluntary and community groups in the area they represent. The grants can be used to support a range of groups and activities including projects to help young people, vulnerable children or adults, as well as the local environment.

With the end of the financial year now looming, Mr Jewell and Mr Saunby are keen to allocate the remainder of their pots before the money is lost to the local community. Mr Jewell has around £1,500 left while Mr Saunby has the full amount to allocate.

Anyone who represents a "constituted organisation" who would like to be considered for a share of the money should contact the relevant councillor and make their case for funding, preferably by early next month.

Mr Jewell can be contacted on 01326 317431 or via email at ajewell@cornwall.gov.uk while Mr Saunby's contact details are: 01326 315285, or dsaunby@cornwall.gov.uk.
