Former Bellowhead banjo player Benji Kirkpatrick will be making a solo appearance at Devoran Acoustic Sessions at Devoran Village Hall on Friday 10th March.

Singer songwriter Benji is an expert at picking his way up and down the guitar, bouzouki, mandolin and banjo, having performed with folk band Bellowhead also making up one third of folk trio Faustus.

Benji's solo album Boomerang, released in 2008, saw him take a step away from traditional folk, featuring only original material, and received critical acclaim, and his most recent studio release features the songs of his musical hero, Jimi Hendrix.

As part of the Shakespeare 400 celebrations in 2016, Benji was involved in The Fairy Portal Camp, commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The event brought together a disparate group of musicians, actors and dancers who worked together to create new works every day for a week in the riverside setting of Avonbank Gardens in Stratford Upon Avon.

He has worked extensively with Seth Lakeman and was a member of his band for three years, featuring on his albums Hearts and Minds, Freedom Fields and Kitty Jay, and has also toured and recorded with Maddy Prior of Steeleye Span, and Oysterband, as well as with Oysterband singer John Jones’ solo projects.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £10.50, available from 01872 262466 or www.hallforcornwall.co.uk. The audience are welcome to bring their own refreshments.
