Falmouth Docks Table Tennis Club held a fund-raising marathon on Saturday as they bid to improve facilities at the Dracaena Centre.

Having already spent a Sport England grant of £120,000 for new lighting, flooring and insulation, the club now plans to build an extension to house more tables.

Members played from 10am until 10pm on Saturday to raise more money towards the latest project.

Among them was 12 year old Jarvis Lee, who produced a stunning performance to win the Second Division title at the West Cornwall Table Tennis Championships in St Austell recently.

Jarvis won in three straight games against Chris Buckingham to take the title. He also finished as a runner-up in the pairs competition with his partner Josh Knight.

Dennis Williams, who coaches Jarvis, said: "It is a marvellous achievement as he has only been playing table tennis for 12 months."
