The first of three adult make and take workshops was held at the Princess Pavilion this week when participants started work on floral sculptures which will be "planted" around the bandstand in time for the Falmouth Spring Flower Show.

The free workshops are being run in conjunction with Falmouth University's art and design foundation course under the guidance of course leaders Jane Chetwyn and Sarah Hayes. The aim is to create a range of colourful floral sculptures out of recycled materials, using Gyllyngdune Gardens as inspiration.

A similar workshop is also being held with Dracaena Centre's young women's group who are making their sculptures out of bicycle wheels.

The finished products will all be planted around the bandstand and around the two top corners of the gardens on March 16 in readiness for the annual Falmouth Spring Flower Show which will be held at the Princess Pavilion on March 18 and 19.

The final two make and take workshops at the Princess Pavilion will take place between 10am and noon on the next two Mondays, March 6 and 13. They are free to join in, although donations are welcomed, and all materials and tools are provided. For more information go to Facebook.com/make-take-adults.
