There was flipping good fun in Helston on Shrove Tuesday when pancake races were held at Coronation Park.

Taking place outside the Old Cattle Market, they were organised by staff at Park View for its members and invited guests.

The service for people with learning disabilities also asked members of The Bridge in Falmouth and The Elms at Redruth to join them for the fun event.

Competitors ran flat out to batter the competition and be declared the winner of each race, for which sweets and certificates were up for grabs.

Dean Reed, support worker at Park View, said: "We had a lovely time - everyone had a ball. It was a nice social event."

Races included sprints, a relay, wheelchair races and a 'mixed' race, with staff also get involved

"It got very competitive!" added Mr Reed, who said around 40 people took part overall with most people involved in at least one race.

The event was lucky with the weather, with blue skies and sunshine overhead as the races were played out, which then turned to rain only an hour after they had finished.

This was the second year that the races have been held and there are plans for a similar event next year.
