A number of beautiful gardens will once again be taking part in the Children's Hospice South West's Garden Trail, including the Meudon Hotel in Mawnan Smith which will be kicking off this year's series on Sunday, March 19.

The Garden trail has been running for the past two years and each year more and more gardens come on board, opening their grounds to help raise funds for the local children’s charity. Gardens of all sizes and types are getting involved, some of which aren’t usually open to the public as well as some very unique and special gardens in the South West.

The garden at the Meudon Hotel will be open to the public beween 2pm and 5pm on Sunday. Meudon’s valley gardens were created in the 1800s and have an abundance of exotic plants and trees from around the world including Chilean Flame trees, gunera, fruiting bananas, azaleas and rhododendrons. This garden has nine acres to explore as well as a private beach.

Entry will cost £5 for adults, 100 per cent of which will be donated to CHSW, and will be free for children. There will be cream teas available for £3.50 with £2 from each being donated to the charity.

Mary Murfin, community fundraiser at CHSW, said: "We are really excited about the return of our Garden Trail and are delighted that so many gardens are featuring this year. Simply by visiting the gardens you are helping us to make the most of short and precious lives. We hope that you will spread the word to friends and family about the various gardens open as part of the 2017 Garden Trail."

The Garden Trail runs until October and other gardens opening in the local area over the next couple of months include: Trenarth at Constantine on May 21, Carminowe Valley Garden in Helston on June 4; Lanuthnoe Barn Cottage, St Erth June 18, Mawnan WI Safari on June 24 and Roseland House at Chacewater on July 1 and 2.
