A dog that chased a rabbit down a hole this lunchtime failed to discover Wonderland – and merely found itself stuck.
The little terrier ended up trapped in a mine adit on the coast path around half a mile from Porthleven.
Fire Control received a call from the owner at 11.55am, to say their dog was down the hole and could not get out.
A crew from Helston Fire Station joined Tolvaddon Rope Rescue team on the coast path, with firefighters from Tolvaddon and two “flexi duty” officers providing back up.
They found the dog approximately two metres below the surface, in a rabbit warren thickly covered by brambles.
Happily the crews were able to retrieve the dog by hand and return it safely to its owner.
Sadly for the pooch, it failed to catch the rabbit, white or otherwise.
The name of the dog is not known at this time – but we hope it’s Alice!
