Cornwall’s hairstylists were given a chance to cut it with the best in the business at a recent event that was attended by hundreds of people.

Salon Cornwall, the county’s largest hairdressing, beauty and complementary therapy trade show, now in its sixth year, played host to some of the world’s best known hair stylists when it took place at Truro College.

Highlights included MK, one of the UK's leading male stylists, shaving a portrait into the back of a volunteer’s head while Australian colouring artist AJ Blackadder gave a live demonstration on the latest hair-colouring techniques.

Visitors to the show came from across Cornwall and included salon owners, their staff and students and teachers from Truro and Penwith College, who also ran workshops and seminars on treatments and techniques.

Pampered guests were also treated to discounted massages, manicures, make-up tutorials and goodie bags from the college.

Hayley McKinstry, programme team leader for hair, beauty, complementary therapies and catering, said: “Salon Cornwall 2017 was a great success, showcasing the amazing skills and talents of experts from the industry. The demonstrations were fantastic, allowing stylists and therapists as well as students to access inspirational professional development.

“With the continued support from suppliers we are able to offer excellent discounts on products and equipment to all visitors which also enables them to be introduced to new and innovate ideas that are less often found in the South West. The event is growing year upon year and we are delighted to be able to continue to offer this opportunity for both new and existing professionals within the industry.”
