Falmouth College has elected a new student presidency team for 2017/18 after a tough interview process.
With the quality of applicants high, it was a difficult decision for the college team, but they eventually appointed Ruby James as the new president, who will be deputised by Eleanor Daniell and Jonas Van den Heuvel. Amazon Doble will take up the new role of charity officer.
The new team will begin their tenure when students return from the Easter holidays on Tuesday, taking over from the current team of Eden Georgiou, Ebony Wright and Anna Freeman. There will be a formal handover process on Monday.
The new team’s first task, will be to welcome the new Falmouth College students by starting a mentoring scheme, to ensure next year’s year 12s are made welcome and have a smooth start. The new charity officer, Amazon, will be working with local and national charities to raise awareness of their causes and organise events for the whole of Falmouth School and the community.
Head of Falmouth College Dr Matt Fox said: “All four students who were appointed impressed the interview panel with their ideas and enthusiasm. We’re really looking forward to working with them to continue to make Falmouth College an excellent place to be.”
