Falmouth Soul Sensation, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary and will release an album of their favourite tracks in the autumn, can be caught in action in their home town on Friday, May 12.

Following their sell out slot in St Austell supporting the legendary Geno Washington, the band will be playing their annual fundraiser for Scope’s Friends of Face2face Cornwall at Falmouth Town AFC social club, for the fifth consecutive year, having moved from the old Four Winds to accommodate the growing audience numbers.

The band’s latest 12 piece line up features a four-piece female vocal line up and a horn section that seems to change each time they play. This energetic dance band has local musicians from the ages of 15 to 70 and is always a huge crowd pleaser, playing classics from Aretha Franklin, the Supremes, Gladys Knight, James Brown and even a couple of classic Shirley Ellis tracks to name but a few.

The football club offers table seating for those who just want to listen and sing along and a dance floor for those feeling a little more energetic. As one of the county’s favourite party bands, being on home turf for a good cause is always a packed evening.

Scopes Face2Face Cornwall is a free and confidential service linking parents of disabled children with local parent befrienders who can help them navigate through the worrying and confusing experience of having a child with support needs.

The Friends of Face2 face Cornwall raise money to enable the service to offer all the things that dwindling social care funding is so often unable to meet. Social opportunities, befriending and networking are some of the things that Leanne Morton, whose organising the event says are what make this service life changing for struggling families.

The gig starts at 8pm and runs until 11pm. Tickets are available from the Visitor Information Office on Prince of Wales Pier and Falmouth Town AFC, or online from crbo.co.uk.
