A women's artists collective will return to The Crypt in St Ives this year for for their latest spring show, following hot on the heels of the re-opening of Tate St Ives.
Taking Space, which formed in 1993 to give women living and working in Cornwall an opportunity to exhibit their work, will be joined this year by Joan Kinghorn, a painter from Wadebridge.
Joan’s recent retirement from a career in education has allowed her to devote more time to her art practice.
Suzy Johnson is also new to the group, having recently returned to Cornwall after a spell in Surrey. And for the first time, Taking Space will be including the work of a potter, Truro based Jo Beer who creates stoneware vessels which are influenced by the neolithic.
Karen Smith, recently appointed artist in residence at the Lychgate Studio, St Clement Church, will be showing a series of landscapes inspired by the river nearby. Exhibitors also include the founder of the group, Mary Fletcher, Beverley Morgante Le Levier and Helen Hoyle.
Taking Space will be at the Crypt Gallery in St Ives from Saturday, April 29 to Friday, May 5.
Admission is free and the exhibition will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm daily.
